For this custom deck design, titled Ninth Life Mode, I wanted to capture that raw, untamed energy in a way that felt chaotic yet deliberate, unpredictable yet controlled. I wanted to capture the rebellious, expressive and boundary-pushing nature of skateboarding, not just in tricks but in culture and art.
The artwork plays with exaggerated proportions and sharp contrasts, giving it a distinct personality that feels both humorous and worn out, like a character that has been through it all yet keeps rolling. The high-contrast aesthetic enhances movement, making the design feel alive even when the board is at rest. The bold composition ensures that every curve of the deck contributes to the overall impact, allowing the illustration to seamlessly integrate with the shape and flow of the board itself. The intense contrast between muted tones and neon accents makes it stand out whether it is being skated or displayed.
This design is not just about visuals, it is about attitude. It embodies the raw, absurd and relentless spirit of skateboarding, where resilience and rebellion go hand in hand. A deck that does not just get ridden, it tells a story.
