The Norwegian russe-concept, or "russ," is a tradition where high school students celebrate their upcoming graduation by forming their own groups or "russegrupper." Each group creates their own unique brand and concept with outfits, logos, slogans, sometimes songs and even pimped up customized tour busses. Maybe airplanes will be a new tradition soon.. anyways, the goal of each "russegruppe" is to have the most creative and unique brand possible, which includes the best name and concept. This often means clever puns and wordplay, or even pushing boundaries with offensive yet genius concepts and names. All groups compete to be named the winner of various categories, including best logo, name, concept, bus and songs of the year.

This russegruppe is called HAM, which is a playful reference to the space monkey that captured our hearts. The happy-go-lucky monkey is drawn in a style inspired by "Rick and Morty," floating in space with a beer and Stig helmet, exuding an unapologetically fun and carefree vibe. The concept represents the group's aspirations to reach new heights and go beyond their limits as they move forward towards their graduation.

The ‘S’ on the Stig helmet refers to the groups cover name. Yes, a cover name, because having only one name is ‘so last year’. With this goes cover songs, cover album, and last but not least, cover release parties. Because why not? So I also designed the groups cover logo ‘Stig’ which is a wordplay on the Stig helmet, and also the Norwegian word ‘Stig’ which means to rise, so in this case to space.

Both of the HAM and Stig logos are used as album covers on Spotify, while the HAM logo is used on their sweaters, which will be worn throughout the 'russefeiring' period, social media and event merch.
